Spatial Data Issues

The use of GNSS relies to a large extent on the availability and use of correct geographical information. This was considered such an important issue that a separate work package was defined to examine the spatial data issues related to GNSS application in the agricultural community.

Relevant topics with respect to spatial data concern for instance the use of (open) standards for spatial data and the use of metadata. A set of standards and requirements was developed to be used within the FieldFact project. Moreover, the results of the research and assessments in this area are relevant as a guideline for the application of spatial data in future projects and project development. A Spatial Data Infrastructure was developed to serve the spatial data needs of the FieldFact project at the selected demonstration locations throughout Europe.
