FieldFact consortium
The FieldFact consortium is composed of 6 partners, brought together by there long-term strategic interest and proven experience in the application of (satellite based) positioning and navigation in agriculture. The consortium provides the appropriate range of research, operational and training expertise to ensure the successful completion of the project. The consortium members have the combined manpower to ensure that adequate resources are available when required during the life of the project.
Alterra
Alterra is the research institute for our green living environment. We offer a combination of practical and scientific research in a multitude of disciplines related to the green world around us and the sustainable use of our living environment. Flora and fauna, soil, water, the environment, geo-information and remote sensing, landscape and spatial planning, man and society: just a few of the numerous aspects of our green environment that Alterra focuses on. Alterra is part of the Wageningen University and Research Centre concern (Wageningen UR). In research and education we closely co-operate with the school of Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University. With this partner we contribute to a high quality and sustainable green living environment. The exchange of expertise and capacity and the match between fundamental and practical research in various projects give us a scientific advantage.
JRC
The Joint Research Centre is part of the European Commission, and has as mission the provision of customer-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. Close to the policy-making process, it serves the common interest of the Member States, while being independent of special interests, whether private or national.
Ekotoxa
The company Ekotoxa Opava is a centre of research, development and expertise, which is working simultaneously in several basic scientific fields, namely: environment, agriculture, forestry and informatics. It is a private company founded in 1993. The company operates mainly in the Czech Republic, with the headquarters in Opava and departments in three other locations within the Czech Republic (Brno, Olomouc, Jičín).
At present, the company is focusing on the following areas:
- Complex and integrated evaluation of environmental conditions, both in strongly urbanized areas, and in open countryside, notably concerning air, forest and land quality;
- Use of progressive information technologies and management tools in the whole agricultural and environmental sector;
- Integrated spatial planning in the countryside, complex land consolidation, strategical spatial development;
- Preparation of administrative and control structures for using EAGGF financial resources and activities of Paying Authority in section of the Ministry of Agriculture
PPO
Praktijkonderzoek Plant & Omgeving (PPO) is a modern company that, together with its clients, works on practical and sustainable solutions in agricultural, horticultural and fruit product chains. PPO is well prepared for offering a broad range of research with a specialization in applied research. Its research locations are situated in several regions in the Netherlands. There are six experimental farms covering a total acreage of about 1000 haof which 750 ha are being used for commercial production and a total of about 100 ha is in use for farming systems research and 150 ha for field experiments. On all farms agricultural fares and demonstrations are being organized in cooperation with members of the agriculture user community. On one of the farms GPS receivers are being used on machinery to enhance farm management.
The core businesses of PPO are:
- improving farm management;
- production of healthy and safe food;
- quality of the environment;
- efficient use of resources.
UWM
University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn has gathered key experiences in the fields of high-precision satellite navigation and integrity determination. They were involved in several development projects and studies in this field.
Structurally, the UWM is comprised of 14 faculties, out of which 7 hold full academic rights and therefore entitle the University to operate as an autonomous unit. The University staff consists of nearly 2800 employees, including 389 professors. The UWM has over 23,000 day students and the total number of students exceeds 33,000. The UWM is located on a 69 ha campus surrounded by beautiful woods and lakes. International cooperation is carried out through 75 agreements with foreign research and teaching institutions from many European and overseas countries. The University offers diplomas and the degrees of B.A., B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc., Dr., Dr. Habil., and Prof.
Terrasphere
TerraSphere offers Geo-ICT solutions through satellite mapping and GIS analysis, combining competences in the fields of Remote Sensing, Hydrology, Forestry & GIS programming. TerraSphere provides custom mapping products based on satellite imagery to various companies (Arcadis, Microsoft) and government agencies. We are also involved in technical studies and training events for International Agencies (European Space Agency, European Commission).
